Why This Tea?

Cloudline was built for people who need energy that behaves — steady, clear, without the crash. Here is why whole-leaf, high-elevation tea does that better than any alternative we tried.

Why This Tea?

Cloudline was built for people who need energy that behaves. Founders, athletes, clinicians, and anyone who works long hours without wanting to trade composure for alertness. We looked at what was on the market and found shortcuts — blends, extracts, fillers, flavorings — designed for scale rather than for how the body actually processes caffeine.

So we went in the other direction. Whole leaves, single origin, cultivated at altitude. No dilution of the chemistry the mountain already perfected.

Engineered by nature

Tea grown above 1,500 meters produces more of what matters. Cooler nights, stronger diurnal swings, higher UV — these stressors slow the plant down and concentrate its chemistry. Polyphenol density rises. Amino acid profile cleans up. Caffeine stays bound to polyphenols, which is what gives tea its steady pharmacokinetic curve.

The same environment that slows growth is the one that makes the leaf work.

Steady energy without the crash

Caffeine alone is blunt. It raises alertness by blocking adenosine, but without a counterweight it produces restlessness, narrowed attention, and an eventual drop.

Tea pairs caffeine with L-theanine, an amino acid found almost nowhere else. Together they produce calm alertness — attention goes up, anxiety does not. Not louder energy. Cleaner energy. Not speed. Direction.

Polyphenols as performance molecules

Catechins and thearubigins don't behave like stimulants. They behave like mild metabolic signaling molecules. Published research links them to improved fat oxidation in endurance training zones, better recovery, and reduced oxidative stress from hard efforts.

You don't feel polyphenols working. You feel what they enable — a body that keeps up with the demands you're putting on it.

The micro-farm advantage

Our cultivation lead, Jerry Lin, is a master's-trained tea cultivator and a professor who trains organic farmers across Taiwan. He manages every Cloudline farm from leaf selection through drying. Traditional oxidation, modern testing, no shortcuts. Every batch tracked back to the plot it was picked from.

Purity, testing, zero compromise

Each micro-lot is independently tested for pesticides, heavy metals, microbial safety, and leaf integrity. If it doesn't meet the threshold we drink ourselves, we don't ship it. Single ingredient: Camellia sinensis. No blends, no flavorings, no fillers.

Why it works for high performers

Athletes use it for steady pre-workout energy and post-session recovery. Founders use it for long focus arcs without the afternoon collapse. Health-oriented drinkers use it as a clean base for a longevity-minded protocol.

Cloudline is the tea we drink. Before long efforts and after them. Nothing added. Nothing taken away.
